HOW CAN I STAY HEALTHY?
Good health requires the commitment of all and there are steps each of us can take to promote and protect our health. These include the following
Drink plenty of water:
A couple of litres a day will keep you in tip-top shape, and you won’t eat as much.
Be happy:
It’s easier said than done, but being in a good mood will do wonders for your health.
Sleep 8 hours:
Getting a good night’s sleep can improve your memory, sharpen your attention, make you less stressed and potentially even live longer.
Eat vegetables:
Eat the rainbow. Brightly-coloured fruit and veg is rich in antioxidants, flavonoids and vital vitamins.
Read health blogs:
Scientists are discovering new ways to boost your health every day. Be sure to keep your finger on the pulse by subscribing to health blogs.
Brush your teeth:
Keep plaque and gum disease at bay by brushing twice daily for about two minutes.
Eat fish:
Fish is packed to the brim with vital nutrients like protein, vitamin D and omega 3 fatty acids.
Drink some red wine:
Research suggests a nightly glass of red can help protect your heart and even stay trim.
Get some sun:
Sunlight helps your body produce vitamin D, triggers the release of feel-good hormones and help clear up skin problems like eczema and acne.
Eat a balanced diet:
Push the boat out and avoid eating the same things over and over.
Organise your food:
It’ll make cooking easier and mean you’re less likely to reach for that takeaway menu.
Wash your hands:
It’s the #1 way to prevent common bacterial and viral infections.
Eat 5 a day:
Actually it’s more like 10, but just do your best to eat a variety of fruit and veg every day.
Read:
Stimulate your brain and keep sharp into old age, while simultaneously de-stressing.
Listen to music:
Improve your visual and verbal skills and your mental wellbeing with a minimum of effort.
Laugh:
A good chuckle can lower levels of stress hormones, boost your immune system and
produce feel-good chemicals called endorphins.
Drink less alcohol:
Banish hangovers, save money and give your liver a rest.
Eat less Salt:
Too much salt has been linked to high blood pressure and heart disease.
If we can put this into practice, we will be able to maintain our healthy living.
